Lester Simpson is a singer, songwriter, actor, musician and broadcaster. He works as a soloist and with the internationally acclaimed a cappella trio Coope Boyes and Simpson, in Europe, America and New Zealand.
As a soloist, his CD ONE is described by Living Tradition Magazine as an emotive recording of finely gauged strengths and challenging depths. He has recorded numerous CD’s with British and international artists.
Radio includes performances on European radio, and BBC Radio 1,2 3 and 4. He also presents the weekly two-hour live show ‘Folkwaves’, for BBC Midlands Radio. He teaches singing classes for Derbyshire County and Derby City Councils encouraging people to sing in harmony, and leads the Raise Your Voices choir. He has been lead tutor on numerous workshop weekends. His work in schools and with community choirs includes song-writing and commissioned works. As a Lead Musician in care homes for the elderly, he works with the Derbyshire Dales based charity, ‘First Taste’.
