Coope, Boyes & Simpson and Fraser, Freya and Boyes

Whether singing together in seasonal words and music productions like 'Harvest Home' or providing a different take on history in 'A Garland of Carols', the incomparable acappella harmonies of Coope Boyes & Simpson, Fi Fraser, Jo Freya and Georgina Boyes have won them friends across England and into Europe. When it was premiered on Late Junction on BBC Radio 3 in November 2003 in a live concert from The Purcell Rooms on the South Bank, their debut album, Fire and Sleet and Candlelight (NMCD21) brought an immediate response from audiences. The BBC Radio 2 website hailed its “dense resonant sonority” and “aural gorgeousness”, whilst tracks played by Natalie Wheen on Classic FM saw the station’s switchboard deluged with calls for more information – she calls the band her ‘favourite carol singers’.
‘Powerful and distinctive’ and ‘utterly transcendent’ were just some of the critics’ conclusions as the album and the words and music production that accompanied it were followed by sell out live tours in England, Belgium and The Netherlands.
